Lieutenant Scott Harper
Scott Harper is the Department's Executive Officer. He is responsible for overseeing the various administrative responsibilities of the Department, as well as managing special units.
LT Harper started his law enforcement career in 1982 as a member of the Goodland, KS Police Department. He joined the Great Bend Police Department in 1989.
He has served in various roles at the Department since then, including duties as a detective, and a sniper on the Department's Special Services Team. Scott has served in his current role since 1996.
LT Harper holds numerous instructor certifications, including Taser, impact weapon, chemical munitions, and use of force instructor. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree from National American University.
The Administration Unit is headed by the Department's Executive Officer, who is responsible for overseeing:
-Compliance with various state and federal regulations
Some of the Special Units that are overseen by the Executive Officer are:
-School Liaison Officer:This position, jointly funded by the City and the School District, places a sworn officer in the schools and provides a primary point of contact for the Department's various youth outreach initiatives.
-Special Services Team (SST): This team, staffed by officers in addition to their regular full time duties, is trained to deal with high risk situation which require special training and equipment.
